Policies

Appointments

All appointments should be scheduled in advance. Our schedule has been designed to minimize wait time, however, emergencies are given first priority. If your physician is treating an emergency patient, we will try to keep you informed of the wait time and give you the option of rescheduling your appointment for another day.
If your child is acutely ill, please call us as early in the day as possible so that we may schedule an appointment on the same day if necessary.

Working-in Sibling Appointments

In an effort to provide ample time to scheduled appointments, we request that unscheduled siblings visit the appointment desk in order to properly schedule an appointment at a time when their needs can be fully addressed.

Cancellations

We request twenty-four hours notice on cancellations for all pre-scheduled appointments. Failure to provide appropriate notice will result in a cancellation fee of at least $35.00. If you must cancel a sick visit, please notify our office as soon as possible so that we may see another child at that time. In an effort to avoid significant delays in our office, patients arriving more than fifteen minutes late for a scheduled physical exam or consultation visit must reschedule.

Telephone Calls

Our staff will be available to answer your questions and schedule appointments during regular office hours. We are pleased to have experienced nurses provide advice during regular office hours, for routine questions regarding your child’s health, behavior, or medical concerns. Our phone system will allow you to leave a message for the advice nurse who will return your call in order of medical priority. If your concern is urgent, please inform the receptionist so that your call will be addressed immediately. If you have lengthy or complicated issues, we ask that you schedule an appointment with one of our providers for an evaluation/consultation.

After Hours Calls

Should you call our office after hours, your call will be directed to our answering service.  If you require additional assistance or advice at that point, your call will be directed to PRN where you will be able to obtain guidance from a nurse.  Please be advised that there is a $10 fee for the use of this service.   When feasible, please restrict after hours calls to urgent matters.  Please call us again if after leaving a message your call has not been returned within 30 minutes.  If you are experiencing trouble reaching our office, please call 1-888-878-6109 and our answering service will be happy to assist you.

ADD/ADHD & Other Prescriptions

Requests for prescription refills should be made during our regular office hours, Monday through Friday.  When calling our office during this time, you will be directed to our automated nurse line where you will be requested to leave pertinent information as it relates to fulfilling your request.  Please allow up to three working days for us to prepare written prescriptions for controlled substances or for mailing prescriptions in to pharmacies.  We will try to address all other requests by the end of the following work day.

Please note that we do not routinely prescribe antibiotics without first seeing your child in the office.

Fees & Payments

Full payment, including any co-payment that your insurance may require, is expected at the time of service. If you are experiencing financial difficulties and need to make special payment arrangements, please ask to speak with a member of our billing office or the practice manager. We are here to help you.

Insurance

At each visit, you will be asked to furnish your insurance card. You will also be given a receipt (when requested) after you’ve paid your co-pay. However, you may be responsible for an additional balance (should we not be contracted with your insurance plan.) Please ask our front office staff should you need further clarification.

Please take the time to review your insurance plan so that you understand what your benefits are. It is important to know what to do in case of an emergency or if your child becomes ill while you are out of town.

Admitting Privileges

Our physicians have hospital privileges at Rex Hospital, Wake Med Cary, and Wake Wake Med Raleigh.
