Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the University of Arizona and his pediatric specialty education from the State University of New York at Syracuse.  Dr. Smith is a board certified pediatrician and has been in practice since 1984.

Dr. Smith moved to Cary in 1984 with his wife Joleen and their two young sons.  He had just completed a fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics at SUNY-Syracuse.  In addition to his current pediatric practice, he has been involved at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, YMCA Indian Guides, CASL soccer, Cardinal Gibbons High School, Wake County Health Department Volunteers and Smart Start Communities. 

Joleen teaches Chemistry at Cardinal Gibbons and has contributed to many ministries at St. Michaels Catholic Church.  Their third son Joel is the last to go to college and is a freshman at Furman.  Dr. and Mrs. Smith’s older sons, Paul and Ben have graduated and are living in Phoenix, AZ and and Charlotte, NC   

Dr. Smith enjoys landscaping, golfing and doing the Sudoku on his off days.   Travel usually includes trips to his beloved Western roots, where the mountains have peaks and the waves hit the shore with power and beauty.
