Dr. Lopez is a board certified pediatrician and has been part of Western Wake Pediatrics since 2002. He received both his medical degree and his pediatric specialty education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Lopez is multi-lingual, including English, Spanish and Tagalog (a Filipino dialect).
Dr. Lopez is a first generation Filipino-American, born in Queens, NY. He spent half his childhood in New Jersey, and the rest in Puerto Rico, Switzerland, and Venezuela. Dr. Lopez received a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University. Previous experience includes preschool education, together with special education for children with autism, and work with children and adolescents at a psychiatric hospital. Community involvement includes the founding of SALSA, an organization created to form a partnership between medical students and clinics assisting Spanish speaking patients in under served communities. Dr. Lopez has an active committee membership for the Department of Pediatrics at WakeMed Hospitals and is an adjunct clinical assistant professor for the UNC School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, with the role of mentoring medical students. Dr. Lopez lives in Raleigh with his wife and two children. |
